Basic Knowledge of Vedic Hindu Astrology:-

Astrology is the science of the effects of planetary movements on our lives. Astrology is based on astronomy, and astrologers need to know the correct positions of the planets among the fixed stars at any given time, as well as the correct positions of the zodiacal fixed star signs in relation to any place on earth at any given time. Once the correct positions of the signs and planets are known, astrologers can construct charts representing these positions. Using her knowledge, the astrologer can study the charts and can make a wide range of conclusions about the moment the chart was cast for. Our learned ancient Astrologers first classified the effects of signs on the life of the native and classified the zodiac in 12 parts called Rashi. They further divided the zodiac into 27 parts called it Nakshatra or Birth Star. The difference between Rashi and Nakshatra is that a Rashi is of 30 degrees duration each whereas a Nakshatra consists of 13 degrees 20 minutes each.

 

It means Birth Star is only a part of the Rashi. Each Rashi is owned by a planet. The nature and effects of signs or Rashis are expressed in accordance with the nature and effects of planets owning these Rashis. Similarly, constellations were also allotted their lords in accordance with their nature and effects. It means that a particular constellation has the characteristics of its lord (planet).
